Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you

Leonard Cohen – Hallelujah [2.19.09]
Radio Broadcast

Did anyone see Watchmen this weekend? If so, what did you think? Is it as good, better, or worse than the book? Leave a comment, let me know what you think about it. I'm curious to see the supposed "Director's Cut" that's rumored to be released (possibly) in theatres this July.

  1. my take on "watchmen" is that the violence was too over- the- top, but otherwise it was a pretty brilliant film. visually it was stunning for sure. the dialogue left a little to be desired, but it's my understanding that a lot it was pulled directly from the graphic novel [which i haven't read, btw] which explained a lot [i find that book dialogue never translates to movie dialogue].

    i'd give it 7 out of 10.

thanks for all the great music, honest abe. keep on rockin' in the free world.

ps. the sex scene with "hallelujah" was definitely super hot.

  2. i was disappointed by the movie mostly because it didnt do a very good of being a movie. it was too busy making sure it was loyal to the book. it should have soared with excitement. the dark knight caught the dreaded feeling that the watchmen should have had. also way too long again because it tried to cover every backstory.
thank you for your time to the blog.

  3. Thanks for the comments & kind words guys. To be honest I got 2 more comments than I thought I would!

It was suggested to me to read the book before seeing the film, and part of me is glad I did and another part isn't. I spent a lot of time wondering what would make it into the film and what wouldn't.

Did anyone have people laugh at totally inappropriate times? I think there were a lot of young kids in the theater, anytime man ass or blue wang was on screen people laughed. That got old pretty quick.

And obviously today's picture and song were 100% inspired by the sex scene. To be honest I was hoping some crafty internet pirate would have somehow posted it online. Damn, that girl's smokin' hot!

  4. I thought the sex scene was terrible. "Hallelujah" was such a ridiculous choice. The rest of the movie was good, but too long, and Virginia is right in saying it spent too much time trying to please every book fanboy and not enough time making a really great film.
